Author workshops

Advice from someone with intimate knowledge of the publishing process is invaluable. Jay Magrann's presentation puts forward the essential ingredients for success and will help the young researcher to achieve the best outcome and exposure for his work.

“Authors Workshop: Maximizing Your Chances of Manuscript Acceptance

As part of our effort to assist authors throughout the publication process, we offer dedicated workshops for present and future authors of journal manuscripts.

With more authors battling over the reduced number of editorial pages within key medical journals, the chances of getting research published are diminished. The goal of the “Authors Workshop: Maximizing Your Chances of Manuscript Acceptance” presentation is to improve both the quality and quantity of manuscripts submitted to formal medical journals by providing new or experienced authors with a publisher/editor’s perspective on:

  • Journal selection
  • Manuscript preparation
  • Financial disclosure and transparency
  • Cover letters
  • Manuscript submission
  • Peer review
  • Manuscript revision and re-submission
  • Final publication

Workshop presenter Jay Magrann, with over 25 years of experience in the healthcare publishing industry, served until recently as Publisher of three of Informa Healthcare’s top formal medical journals.

He also was a co-author of the frequently downloaded article “Author’s Submission Toolkit: A practical guide to getting your research published” as part of ISMPP’s MPIP initiative.

Jay is a frequent expert presenter at a wide variety of corporate and academic settings. His prior engagements include the World Congress of Biological Psychiatry, the World Congress on Menopause, and the Annual Scientific Meeting of the European Society of Hypertension.
